Data Sources:
Step 1: CEO residential area information collection
Biography websites: Wikipedia, Forbes, Virtual Globetrotting, etc.
Profiles of CEOs on company official websites and social medias.
Interview transcripts.
Google Search: Use various versions of each CEO's name (sometimes combine with company names), combined with relevant keywords such as "reside", "live", "home", etc.
Step 2: CEO residential environment green and security condition measurement
Environment measurement source: Global Forest Watch (globalforestwatch.org) & FBI Crime Data Explorer (CDE (cjis.gov)).
Information Processing Criteria:
We examine related text or image results from various data sources to judge the residential area of CEOs. In some cases, we combine different data sources to confirm the residential area. Then, we identify the green condition and the secure condition of the CEO's residential environment on the state level based on the data collected from Global Forest Watch and FBI Crime Data Explorer.
Data Sources:
Step 1: CEO workplace information collection
Workplace information: COMPUSTAT.
Step 2: CEO workplace sustainable condition measurement
Building Green Certificate information: LEED rating system (LEED rating system | U.S. Green Building Council (usgbc.org)).
Information Processing Criteria:
We match the company headquarters addresses and zip codes obtained from COMPUSTAT with the information in the LEED system records. Successfully matched LEED information is used as the criterion for determining the CEOs' work environment. Occasionally, we also use other information provided by LEED to assist with our record matching.
